Everything has changed after Taylor Swift was spotted cheering on rumored flame Travis Kelce at Kansas City Chiefs' home game against the Chicago Bears Sept. 24. The unexpected appearance created a frenzy not just amongst Swifties, but the sports community as well.
In fact, dating speculation surrounding the pair recently led NFL commentator Greg Olsen to call Taylor and Travis, both 33, "American royalty."
"It's how I imagine people covering the royal wedding," he remarked on the Sept. 25 episode of the Calm Down podcast with fellow sports commentator Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson, describing the situation as an "American pop culture icon" and a "football hero teaming up."
He continued, "It could last a week. It could last a year. They could marry each other for 50 years. I don't know but whatever this is, it's amazing."
According to Erin, Travis knew Taylor would be showing up to the game but kept it a secret from the press until moments before kickoff. "He goes, ‘Yeah, she's gonna be here, but you didn't hear that from me,'" she recalled the tight end telling her. "I run over to Greg and [commentator] Kevin [Burkhardt] like a little kid, like, ‘You guys! She's here!"
Greg added that having Taylor at Arrowhead Stadium made the overall game more exciting, as the Chiefs had been leading 41-0 up until the fourth quarter.
"Thank god she's here saving the day," he quipped in response to criticism over the singer's attendance. "If you don't like it, tune into another broadcast."
So, how does Travis feel about Taylor showing up at his game? The Super Bowl champion—who extended an invite to the star after failing to give her a friendship bracelet with his number on it at her Eras Tour this summer—called it a "ballsy" move.
"She looked amazing," he raved during the Sept. 27 episode of his and brother Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast. "To see the slow motion chest bumps, to see the high-fives with mom, to see how Chiefs kingdom was all excited that she was there—that s--t was absolutely hysterical. It was definitely a game I will remember, that's for damn sure."
Travis added that he and Taylor also got to hang out after the game, leaving the stadium together in his convertible.
"We just slid off in the getaway car at the end," he shared, referencing the Grammy winner's Reputation track. "Shoutout to Taylor for coming through and seeing me rock the stage."
